Eastern Chapter 2011-2012 Schedule
This year's meeting will be held on Thursday and Friday, May 5th and 6th at the Elks Country Club in Columbus, Nebraska and offer 7 PDH's.
We are excited to announce that this year our Keynote speaker will be Curt Tomasevicz, Olympic GOLD Medal Winner, holds a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering, and also played football for the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
The 2011 State Annual Meeting will provide 7 PDH's and include the following topics:

- Tour of Archer-Daniels-Midland Company (ADM) Ethanol and Co-Generation Power Plant – Kelly Gassen

The banquet will be held Thursday evening followed by Curt Tomasevicz. At the conclusion of the Annual Meeting on Friday you are invited to join us for lunch, followed by 18 holes of golf. State Mathcounts Competition - The state MATHCOUNTS competition is fast approaching and, as always, we are looking for volunteers to grade tests and proctor. The competition will be held Saturday, March 19th at the UNL East Campus student union and volunteers are needed from approximately 9:30 am to Noon. Sign-Up for the 2011 Legislative Lunch - The event is a long standing tradition, giving you the opportunity to meet the Governor, state senators, agency directors, members of the Board of Engineers and Architects, and other notable figures.
To coordinate this effort, NeSPE members will be assigned to personally host a state senator, agency director, or other special guest. To ensure that a special guest has been assigned to you, please RSVP to the state office as to whether you are able to attend the luncheon. You will be notified at the Legislative Briefing as to who you will be hosting during the luncheon.
Please be sure to attend the Legislative Briefing provided by Kissel/E&S Associates prior to the luncheon to receive an update on all legislative bills introduced that impact the engineering profession. You will also receive 1 PDH for attending the legislative briefing.

Structural Engineers Association of Nebraska Proposes Rule Changes - December 2, 2010 - SEAON (seaon.org) asks NeSPE for input on proposed changes for Civil Engineers in Nebraska. Steve Wadas Recognized - (July 2010 NPPD Energy Insight)
Lt. Gov. Rick Sheehy presented Engineer Technical Lead Steve Wadas, P.E., with an Admiralship in The Great Navy of the State of Nebraska at the Nebraska Society of Professional Engineers Annual Meeting in Grand Island. Steve was recognized for increasing membership during his tenure as the State President of the NSPE. He is now NSPE's State Membership Director for 2010-11. He was also presented with a National Volunteer of the Year award at the National Society of ProfessionalEngineers Annual Meeting in Orlando, Fla.
